you have headmates? damn, any of them willing to stand unflinching before me in the heat battle? to rise defiant when the reaper’s blade cuts down the weak and worthless? who is there to guard your heart, fair maiden?

girlies are you ready for me to drop like 8k+ words of wretched chrylurk writing

i’ve been a tear the past few days, which is its own issue because i keep getting stunlocked by new ideas before i finish editing the last one

but i should finish editing them tonight or tomorrow, 4‍-5 new posts

2026‍-02‍-09

if i weren’t tired from trying to proof read all these posts today, i’d do a better job of selling them.

if you remember my last post about chrylurks (You awaken in chrysalis. Your mind hangs by a web, our web, our embrace.), i’ve written a new one‍-shot. longer, and less opaquely written. it’s also my first time flexing my action writing skills in a while

One to the Light, Swarm to the Shadows 5.0k words 2026-02-09
where a single bug crawls, a hive lies unseen

Golden sky hung above as horizon enveloped sun. Gilded like kintsugi, shining between shards of darkling clouds. This twilight might well have been night already — that suited me.

I crawled up the tower, claws of my tarsi hooking into brickwork. Human alchemists loved this plain white stone. What was it that drew such empire-wide devotion — the symbolic purity? As if this tower wasn’t a stain on forest that had predated it. Even where it wasn’t garrish white stone, it was angular iron bars flecked with red.

if you only read one of today’s posts, that’s certainly the one i’m proudest of

but i had a particular intent when i started writing it, an experiment i wanted to conduct. but i got carried away setting the scene and laying pipe, and it turned into something else entirely.

the next day, before i’d finished editing i took a walk, and had a vision for now to execute the real formatting fuckery i intended. i thought it’d be easy enough to knock out quickly before getting back to the other post. then it turned into a one shot of its own!

:: Be me :: thrallborne. :: Vectored by a master infiltrator :: stealthy as fuck :: slipped right into the summer palace :: infested a princess. :: Court never figured it out! :: Three instars pass :: fending for myself :: totally parasite-mastering. :: One day a hive nurse shows up, starts tending to me :: it’s another infiltrator. :: Court’s face when princess’s favorite maid was a bug and no one noticed.

if you recall yesterday’s joke about greentext in a fantasy world, this is my attempt to convey that.

but that’s not all, somehow! this morning, while i lay in bed planning my day, i intended to edit both these along aside my other responsibilities ‍- then i got distracted planning another writing. this one is more expositional, and i admittedly did the least to clean it up

On the Emotions of Thralls 1.6k words 2026-02-09
Digression concerning abnormal psychological spectra

For a mortal enthralled to a chrylurk’s will, one’s mind is not one’s own. Trivial wisdom, oft quoted. But for all its overpreached banality, few have reckoned with what this truly means. Chrylurk subjugation is no less than a challenge — a refutation, an annihilation — of the human condition. Beyond human! Subjectivity itself ought experience a profound vertigo in the face of the thralls.

ok, that’s all for now. it shouldn’t be hard to find your way to the main directory if any of those posts amuse you

for my new fantasy setting, i kicked around various clever names for sapient species as a whole (e.g. wise‍-hands), but in the end, the mundane won out, and i’ve settled on calling them mortals

i like this because it gives you a lot of the rhythmic heft of human as well as evoking a poetic feel

but one interesting effect is that it means the natural translation of, say, transhumanism or posthuman is postmortalism ‍- and that really boils it down to the essence, doesn’t it?

it’s worth elaborating that the nuance here is that a mortal is a being self‍-aware of their morality; many animals aren’t mortals by this definition because they lack the sapient angst about death. such entities are considered “amortal”

but importantly, this definition is meant to be exclusionary‍ ‍‍—‍ the parasitic insect hivemind of this setting is amortal for a different reasons: they are incapable of this awareness of one’s own death because they don’t view themselves as individuals capable of dying

perhaps you can argue their hives as whole fit the definition of mortal, but fantasy wokeness hasn’t gotten that far.

exscient in the most derogatory sense; a slur for mortals, pronounced with the scraped sibilant š, which can only be made with the stridulation of mandibles.

one downside of most vehement ai critics being unwilling to engage with ai generated media, by and large doing their best to minimize their exposure, is that as a result they are especially unprepared to catch ai when it slips into their bubble.

i’m not sure what is to be done about this

but you’ve gotta read Seeping through

It reshapes itself after its chosen prey, only to do so once more the next time it hungers. As short‍-lived as some of its roles may be, carrying them out is just as vital as the hunting process itself. Thus, it knows to consume its prey in its entirety until there is no difference between the two. Now, having lived through many feeding cycles, it also knows that something stays. As true as it is that one cannot remain unchanged in order to survive, much like a river must alter the very earth over which it flows, some course alterations are also not conducive to that goal. Such are the issues posed by its rationality when its next prey attempts to hunt itself: a human who begs to be eaten.

it’s breath‍-takingly good. one of the best execution of a identity‍-stealing body horror i’ve read. it cares about the details of biology and predation strategies in a way that gives me everything i wanted out of this sort of premise. and need i mention the toxic yuri?

back in 2025, i listed this story among my top ten favorite original works posted that year, but we’ve gotten three new chapters this month and they’ve taken the story to a new level. today’s chapter melting my brain

it’s such a shame there aren’t more people reading it

there is something exasperating about artists who contort their language and invent cutesy‍-cryptic ways to talk about c0mmissions or the ‘p’ site without getting suppressed by the “algorithm”, a superstition entity warded off in the manner of a evil spirit

was there ever anything at the root of it? or is this entirely a folk ritual, perhaps borne from a misattribution. after all, “the algorithm” is always a proxy for “what people click on” and artists correctly notice that you don’t get as much of that the more your post, in both function and presentation, serve as advertisements.

the mistake is thinking this is due to syntax rather than semantics, or that the principle actor at fault is artificial rather than human

this year i’ve been obsessively listening to a concept album from ten years ago about ai destroying humanity, but it sure does hit different these days

Transfixed in Twelve Sonnets
2026‍-02‍-26
I want more media that’s post‍-human in the most literal sense. More stories should take the bold approach of Murder Drones or Sea of Rust and straight up go “Robots want to destroy all humans? Awesome! Anyway, here’s what happens after that,”
2026‍-02‍-27
what they dont tell you about writing sonnets is that after a thousand words of verse you’ll keep that cadence even when you go back to prose

for nearly two decades there’s been a widely circulated anecdote that a man with hydrocephalus lived a normal life despite missing 90% of his brain. according to snopes, this seems to be inaccurate.

apparently the original case report makes no mention of him lacking anything and there’s intact regions of the brain that aren’t visible in the photos

hydrocephalus does destroy connections and neurons, but his brain was probably just like, super squished, not nearly gone
